Man in a Field

MistyField

I saw a man in a field.
Knew not why he was there.
And to the Spirit I had to yield.
Show the man I cared.
I tread the dewy grass to inquire of him.
He told me he was fine.
Just a fellow soul on a misty morn,
Contemplating the Divine.

Do you ever feel led by the Spirit to do something outside your comfort zone? I think that if we were honest with ourselves we would admit that almost daily God is calling us to reach out beyond ourselves.

What are some experiences you have had that you felt led by the Spirit to do something, and did you do it?

Grace and Peace.

  1. Have any of us not sinned by failing to do what we could? I passed a man hitch-hiking this morning and justified it thinking, “I am only going a little way; surely he would be better helped by somebody else.” On other occasions I have done more but can I say I ever did all that I could? In light of Matthew 25:40-46 it is a good thing we have salvation through Christ.

    Matthew 25:40-46
40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[f] you were doing it to me!’

41 “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.[g] 42 For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’

44 “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’

45 “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’

46 “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”

  2. Well, I waited a few days to comment on this because…well, conviction sometimes hurts… The Holy Spirit will speak to me often and, well, often I do not do what the Spirit is leading me to do…..I find a way out… I cop out, I look the other way.

Like, when he tells me to give up a habit or sometimes a way of thinking…or when He tells me to, maybe get involved with a person that is a royal pain in the butt and I don’t want to deal with them….

Last few days after reading this…..I have been contemplating the Divine in my life.
