Sermon of the Week – Jesus our Substitute

I didn’t get to listen to much preaching this week, but I was able to listen to a little of Alistair Begg’s Jesus 101 series. The sermon I heard was titled “Jesus our Substitute”. It’s real good and I recommend it. If you are not familiar with Alistair you gotta check him out. Real solid preaching. He is from Scotland but ministers at Parkside Church in Cleavland, Ohio.

The one quote that has really been sticking with me this week is Alistair asks the listener, “Have you ever put your name in the verse?” He is referring to John 3:16. Try it. It’s really kinda of powerful.

John 3:16 (ESV)

16“For God so loved Tony, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Pretty cool.

Here are links.

  1. I’m with trapper…his accent is a trip. A good friend of mine is a “religious” listener of Alistair and he’ll never get a raised eye-brow from me about it.

    • Alistair’s teachings have really been a blessing to me. A buddy of mine used to get CDs of his sermons from his ministry, Truth for Life. Now all of his stuff is free for download.
