SOAP Journal Entry – Luke 8:48

S – [48] And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.” (Luke 8:48 ESV)

O – This story begins in verse 43.  Here is a woman who had a physical problem for 12 long years.  She had spent all her money on doctors to no avail.  She was considered ceremonially unclean which really made her an outcast.  The Scripture says, “she could not be healed by anyone.”  She knew better!  She had faith that if she could just touch the hem of Jesus’ garment from behind, which shows great humility, she would be healed.  Her faith was so strong that Jesus knew she had touched Him and knew she had been healed the moment it happened.  He was in a great crowd and yet He knew when this one person touched Him in faith.  It took some prodding before she came forward “trembling”, but she did.  She told Him in front of all those people that it was she who had touched Him, why she had touched Him and that she was healed.  And then comes the best part.  Not only did He heal her, He called her “Daughter”.

A – Daughter.  What a beautiful word.  When we come to Jesus in faith, believing that He will heal our spiritual infirmities, we become His sons and daughters.  All of us are someone’s child.  That relationship is one that is like no other.  Those of us that are redeemed are children of the Heavenly Father.  That relationship is one that is like no other!  Our earthly relationships may fail, but our Heavenly Father will never fail us.  I know I can always reach out and touch Him, and He will always draw me close and call me “Daughter”.

P – Heavenly Father, thank you for calling me daughter.  Thank you for adopting me into Your family when I reached out in faith to You.  Thank you for the blessings that You bestow upon me each day.  Blessings that only a Father can give to His child.  I love you and want to always serve You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
